The Visionary Award

The CFNA Visionary Award recognizes a full member of the Canadian Forensic Nurses Association who demonstrates innovation, resilience, and commitment in advancing forensic nursing practice and improving client health outcomes in Canada. This award honors excellence in clinical care, education, policy, research, or administration, highlighting contributions such as developing practice standards, advocating for social change, and fostering collaboration to enhance forensic nursing and violence prevention efforts.

     The Impact Award 

The CFNA Forensic Nursing Impact award is given to a forensic nurse NEW to practice within the

last five years who has illustrated one or more of the following:
  • Incorporates and shares learning gained through forensic nursing education and professional development in their practice setting.
  • Makes a concerted effort to raise awareness about the practice of forensic nursing within healthcare and/or the community. 
  • Demonstrates leadership in the development and implementation of forensic nursing practice. 
  • Demonstrates innovative tools, procedures, processes and/or policies impacting forensic nursing practice.
  • Demonstrates innovative and progressive ideas in forensic nursing.

Brittany Jury

The 2025 recipient,  Brittany Jury, exemplified all the criteria of this award through her dedicated efforts to raise awareness about forensic nursing and to provide comprehensive education to staff, law enforcement, and community partners to strengthen collaborative relationships and improved processes.

The Outstanding Contribution Award

The CFNA Outstanding Contribution Award is a prestigious new honor recognizing individuals or organizations outside of CFNA membership who have made a significant impact in forensic nursing in Canada. This award celebrates excellence in advancing forensic nursing practice, strengthening the intersection of health, community support, and legal systems, and fostering collaborations that enhance forensic patient and client outcomes.

As the inaugural recipient (2024), Winston Sayson exemplifies the highest standards of dedication and impact in this field. His outstanding contributions have been widely recognized, making him truly deserving of this honor.
