Who we are
The Canadian Forensic Nurses Association (CFNA) advances forensic nursing in Canada, focusing on standards and issues like violence, trauma, and death investigations. Founded in 2006 and rebranded in 2016, the CFNA has over 147 members, including Sexual Assault Nurses and Coroners.

Ann Marie Provencher
Ann Marie is the assistant coordinator of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program in St. John’s, a role she has held for over 15 years. She is a registered nurse with 38 years of clinical experience including past practice in emergency, intensive, and coronary care nursing.
Since 2010, Ann Marie has specialized in SANE nursing and was the first nurse in Newfoundland and Labrador to achieve SANE-A certification through the International Association of Forensic Nurses. She has played a leadership role in advancing forensic nursing practice in the province, including contributing as a committee member to the development of the Anonymous Sexual Assault Evidence Preservation Program (ASAEPP).
Ann Marie is recognized for her clinical expertise, advocacy, and long-standing commitment to trauma informed, patient centered care. She is honoured to co present at this year’s conference.
